Domestic Violence and Orders of Protection

i-domestic-violenceUnfortunately, domestic violence and harassment are real issues in today’s society.  There are legal protections you can use to assist you.  If you are in immediate danger, call 911 and get to a safe place.  If children are in immediate danger, you should call 911 or Child Protective Services.

These include:

  • Orders of Protection (between family members or romantic partners)
  • Injunctions Against Harassment (between non related persons)
  • Injunctions Against Workplace Harassment (between an employer and worker)

Other legal actions that might be appropriate:

  • Emergency Order in the Family Court
  • Temporary Order in the Family Court
